The 1988 Bronco sat halfway through the full sized Bronco’s life cycle. (1978-1996).
In the 1980s SUV’s were trucks and not nearly as refined as a modern car-like SUV. Auto industry critics rarely had nice things to say about trucks in those days, but the 1988 Bronco managed to wrestle good reviews from Motor Week and Road & Track.
A new Bronco in 1988 would of set you back about $20,000. It came in an XL, XLT, and Eddie Bauer models. The XLT models had two tone paint options. The XL models usually shipped with a manual transmission.
Buyers had three engines to choose from, including an inline six (very slow).
